Kate Middleton and Prince William Share Halloween Post for the First Time with Throwback Photo of Prince Louis.

Kate Middleton and Prince William have marked a royal first on Halloween.
On Saturday, Oct. 31, the Princess and Prince of Wales shared their first-ever Halloween-themed post on social media.
Through their joint Instagram account, Kate and William, both 44, posted a throwback photograph of their youngest child, Prince Louis, celebrating the annual holiday.
“Happy Halloween!,” the royal couple wrote in their caption, adding that the image was taken by Kate when Louis was age 1.

Princess Kate and Prince William have celebrated Halloween with their three children — Prince Louis, plus son Prince George, 13, and daughter Princess Charlotte, 11 — in years past.
Back in 2022, London resident Jay Rutland shared a photo of the Princess of Wales taking her three children to collect candy on Halloween, according to Hello! magazine.
“For anyone doubting how down to earth William and Kate are… This is Kate with their kids knocking on our door in London trick-or-treating at Halloween,” Rutland captioned the photo, the outlet reported.
Prior to that, in 2019, Kate was spotted in a local supermarket in Norfolk with Prince George and Princess Charlotte picking out Halloween costumes.
Local resident Kathy Whittaker spotted the royal browsing the holiday section, and she told several U.K. newspapers at the time, “I didn’t see what she actually bought. The lady that told me she was there had children with her, and she said Kate was asking her children what they were going to be for Halloween.”
This headline refers to a rare social media update shared on Prince William and Catherine’s official accounts to mark Halloween, breaking their usual practice of keeping holiday celebrations private.
The Throwback Image.
The post featured a never-before-seen photograph taken by Kate in Norfolk during autumn 2019, showing a one-year-old Prince Louis:
The Scene: A toddler Louis is leaning forward with both hands resting curiously on a giant orange pumpkin.
The Look: He is dressed for a crisp autumn day in a navy blue hooded raincoat, dark denim jeans, and bright letterbox-red Wellington boots.
The Caption: The post was captioned simply: "Happy Halloween! Prince Louis, aged 1, photographed by The Princess of Wales."
Why It Surprised Royal Watchers.
1. A Rare Public Mark for Halloween: Senior British royals typically do not mark Halloween on official household social channels. While the Wales family has long celebrated privately—such as Kate being spotted in 2019 picking out costumes with Prince George and Princess Charlotte at a local Sainsbury's near Anmer Hall—official palace channels generally skip social media posts for the holiday.
2. Kate Behind the Lens: Royal fans and commentators noted the return of Kate’s personal photography on their official feed. The Princess has long been the primary family chronicler for her children's milestone portraits, and sharing an intimate family archive snap reinforced their down-to-earth personal touch.
3. The Uncanny Family Resemblance: The throwback sparked an immediate wave of reaction among royal followers, with many pointing out how closely one-year-old Louis resembled his elder brother, Prince George, at the exact same age.
