The Princess of Wales Top 20 Outfits of 2025.
From tiaras to sneakers, here are the Princess of Wales’s best fashion moments of the year.
After a challenging 2024 due to her abdominal surgery and subsequent cancer diagnosis, treatment, and recovery, Kate Middleton was back to work for the most part—this year.
In February, the Sunday Times reported that the Princess of Wales wanted the focus to be on her work and not her wardrobe, and that Kensington Palace would no longer be releasing details of her outfits. Soon after, however the Palace clarified that it wasn’t Kate’s intent, but a message from the spokesperson. “Over the last week, I have received numerous questions about a story regarding The Princess of Wales’s clothing and how Kensington Palace shares information about her outfits,” a spokesperson said. “To be clear, there has been no change in our approach to sharing information about Her Royal Highness’s clothing.” For the most part, however, the Palace has continued to share details on Kate’s clothing.
The past year brought many high fashion moments from the Princess of Wales, including three State Banquets. In December, the Princess also debuted a new-to-her tiara, the Oriental Circlet Tiara—which was commissioned for Queen Victoria and a favorite of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. It also saw more casual appearances, and plenty of repeats from previous years. In chronological order, here are Kate’s top 20 outfits of the past year:
Back to Work.
Kate kicked off 2025 with the news she was in remission, and visited the hospital where she received treatment last year. “As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal. I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead,” she wrote in a message.
While her fashion was not the focus of the appearance, she showed up in a classic Kate outfit: a tartan Blaze Milano coat, a Kiltane cashmere turtleneck, and an Edeline Lee midi skirt.
From the Archives.
In February in Wales, Kate surprised royal watchers when she wore a Ralph Lauren coat she had previously worn way back in 2007. She styled the cropped jacket with a brown turtleneck and a pleated tartan Gucci skirt.
Bow Moment.
For the annual Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, Kate rewore a red dress by Catherine Walker that features an oversized bow on the chest. (She first wore it back in 2021 for a Christmas service.)
Classic Coatdress.
To mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, Kate chose a burgundy Emilia Wickstead coatdress she’s worn on previous occasions, including a 2022 state visit hosting President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa
Polka Dot Repeat.
At a Thanksgiving Service to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day at Westminster Abbey, Kate wore Princess Diana’s diamond and pearl earrings and she chose a white polka dot dress by Alessandra Rich. It was yet another repeat outfit; she wore the look two years prior, on Garter Day in June 2023.
Self-Portrait Dress (Twice!).
Kate loves this Self-Portrait dress so much she wore it back-to-back in quick succession: In May at a concert celebrating VE Day 80 (left), and at Garter Day in June. It’s a favorite outfit of the Princess—she first wore it in 2021, and again in 2022. (More on Kate’s repeat outfits, here.) She even kept her jewelry the same on both outings, choosing vintage pearl cluster earrings and a pearl necklace from Susan Caplan.
Butter Yellow.
After missing last year’s Buckingham Palace garden parties due to her ongoing cancer treatment, the Princess of Wales chose a butter yellow Emilia Wickstead dress, a repeat of what she wore back in 2022 for Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.
Casual Kate.
For an outing to Colchester Hospital to plant roses, Kate went casual in a Blaze Milano pinstripe blazer, a Ralph Lauren cotton button down, brown pants, and her go-to Veja Esplar sneakers.
Dior Debut.
In July, at the formal welcome for French State Visit, Kate wore Dior for the first time. She paired the blush pink blazer and skirt with a matching bespoke hat by Jess Collett and royal pearl jewelry—Princess Diana’s earrings and a necklace from Queen Elizabeth’s collection.
Tiara Return.
For Kate’s first tiara moment since announcing her cancer diagnosis—she missed the State Banquets last year celebrating Japan and Qatar—she turned once again to her Lover's Knot tiara, pairing it with a dramatic red Givenchy gown designed by Sarah Burton.
Bespoke Self-Portrait.
Kate, as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, attended both the Wimbledon women’s and men’s finals this year. For the women’s championship, she chose a bespoke pale yellow Self-Portrait dress.
Bespoke Roskanda.
A day later, for the Wimbledon men’s championship, she opted for a custom royal blue dress by Roksanda that featured a large bow on the left shoulder, and a statement necklace from Daniella Draper.
Prince of Wales Check Suit.
On an engagement in September to visit historic textile mills, the Princess of Wales wore a Prince of Wales check suit by British designer Bella Freud.
Glamorous in Gold.
At a State Banquet in honor of the U.S. President, Kate wore her Lover's Knot tiara, Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Orbital pendant earrings, and a gold, lace dress created by British designer Phillipa Lepley.
Olive Suit.
For an engagement in Oxford in early October, the Princess of Wales wore an olive green Victoria Beckham suit, and accessorized with a meaningful pendant necklace that features the initials of her children.
Countryside Chic.
During an October visit to Northern Ireland, Kate wore a Barbour jacket, Jura Cardigan from WNU, and a Ralph Lauren tweed skirt—a perfect look for a day out at two farms.
Velvet Gown.
For the annual Royal Variety Performance in November, the Princess of Wales chose an off-the-shoulder velvet green gown from Talbot Runhof. She also wore two standout pieces of royal jewelry: the Queen Mary Choker Bracelet and the Greville Diamond Chandelier Earrings.
Dramatic Tiara.
At the final state banquet of the year, Kate wore a new-to-her tiara: Queen Victoria’s Oriental Circlet Tiara, which she paired with a sparkling Jenny Packham dress.
Festive Fur.
For her fifth annual Christmas carol, Kate turned to a jacket with faux fur trim she had worn years earlier.
Plaid on Plaid.
For her final public appearance of the year—attending church on Christmas day—Kate wore the Blaze Milano coat she wore on her very first engagement of 2025, but this time paired it with a Gucci plaid skirt.
