Another new heir day! The Princess of Wales debuts straight hairstyle during German state visit - as fans compare her to Princess Charlotte.
The Princess of Wales revealed a fresh new hairstyle today as she joined Prince William to welcome the German president to the UK for a state visit.
This morning, William and Catherine greeted President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and his wife, Elke Büdenbender, on behalf of the King at Heathrow Airport before travelling with them to Windsor Castle.
Kate, 43, looked stunning in an all-blue ensemble, wearing an Alexander McQueen bespoke coat by Sarah Burton over a Burberry dress, before a subtle change to her hairstyle caught the attention of royal fans.
The mother-of-three's locks, which usually fall in subtle waves, had been straightened today, making for a sleek look under her Juliette Botterill bow and arrow hat.
Observers soon gushed over the switch-up, with some even comparing the look to Kate's daughter, Princess Charlotte, 10, whose hair is usually styled straight.
One royal fan said: I’m loving the Princess of Wales’ sleek, straight hair today!', while another added: 'I imagine Princess Charlotte will look like that when she's older.'
Kate has undergone a hair transformation in recent months, first displaying her newly blonde locks on a visit to the Natural History Museum in September after returning from her summer break.
She claimed earlier this month that her famous brunette tresses have gone 'light in the sunshine'.
Elsewhere today, Kate continued her blue theme with an Emmy London Natasha clutch in lake, and accessorised with Princess Diana's sapphire earrings, Queen Alexandra's three feathers brooch.
She previously wore a very similar look for Christmas service at Sandringham in 2023.
Kate and William have been playing an increasingly significant role in key ceremonial occasions in recent years, often using 'soft diplomacy' to build important relationships when welcoming international dignitaries and VIPs.
Dressing and style come as a huge part of this. Royal fans said today: 'Catherine’s hair is always so beautiful. She has the best hair.'
Others wrote: 'I'm having hair envy! I've always loved the straightened look on her! We don't see it enough!';
'Reminds me of beautiful Charlotte!!'
The next three days will see a mix of pomp and pageantry, politics, economics, sport and culture, as well as provide a vehicle for talks at a crucial period for the war in Ukraine.
At Windsor, the King and Queen formally welcomed the Federal President and the First Lady at the Royal Dais in the town centre as a Royal Salute fired in the Home Park at Windsor, and simultaneously at the Tower of London.
The Federal President and Ms. Büdenbender then joined the King and Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales, in a carriage procession to Windsor Castle.
In the castle Quadrangle, a Guard of Honour gave a Royal Salute and the regimental Band played the German and British National Anthems.
The Federal President, accompanied by The King, will then inspect the Guard of Honour before rejoining Queen Camilla and Ms. Büdenbender, together with the Prince and Princess of Wales, to view the military Rank and March past.
Following lunch in the State Dining Room, joined by members of the Royal Family, Their Majesties invited The President and The First Lady to view a special exhibition of items relating to Germany from the Royal Collection in the Green Drawing Room.
The President will then leave the castle to meet the Prime Minister at No.10 Downing Street for talks, while his wife visits the Judith Kerr Primary School in south east London to meet pupils and celebrate the school's connection to its namesake, the famous German-born British writer and illustrator who authored children's' classic The Tiger Who Came to Tea.
However, all eyes will be back on Windsor later when the King holds a glittering state banquet in honour of his guests.
While much attention will be paid to the tiaras and outfits on display, the King and the German President will both deliver keenly-awaited speeches at the beginning of the banquet.
