Kate Middleton Reportedly Set for “Huge Milestone” With Prince William Later This Year.
Royal biographer Russell Myers said that it’s a landmark moment not just for the Princess of Wales, “but for the couple together.”
Following her successful two-day visit to Reggio Emilia, Italy this past May, Kate Middleton is reportedly gearing up for another international trip and this time, one with her husband Prince William.
As the Prince of Wales’s Earthshot Prize Awards head to Mumbai, India in November, the Princess of Wales is expected to accompany him there, according to The Mirror. Plans are apparently underway for the future queen to join William at the awards ceremony for the first time since 2022, when the royal couple visited the U.S. (Boston, specifically) for the second iteration of the awards. Kate was also present for the organization’s first award ceremony, which took place in the U.K. in 2021. William traveled solo to Singapore in 2023, South Africa in 2024, and Brazil in 2025.
Notably, this trip—in just three months’ time—would be William and Kate’s first international visit together since 2023, when they attended a royal wedding in Jordan that June. It would also mark Kate’s first joint international trip with William since before her 2024 cancer diagnosis. She announced in January 2025 that she is in remission.
“The secret to the Prince and Princess of Wales’ marriage is support for one another throughout their roles as working royals and as parents to their three young children,” The Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers said. “Everything they do is in tandem, and this includes Catherine being the catalyst for William launching the Earthshot Prize when he doubted it could become the global success it has.”
William launched the Earthshot Prize in 2020 as a 10-year mission to help save the planet from environmental threats. Winners across five different categories receive $1.4 million to advance their efforts.
“They are completely aligned in their love of nature and their belief in the climate crisis facing the world,” former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror. “It’s not just that she feels she should support her husband. The natural world, the fresh air we hope to keep on breathing, and the delicate balance of preserving our planet are just as key to Catherine as they are to William. And that’s one of the many reasons why they make such a great team.”
In addition to visiting Mumbai, the Prince and Princess of Wales are also likely to spend time in Delhi at the request of the U.K. government, The Mirror reported. The couple undertook a tour of India and Bhutan back in 2016, a full decade ago—when they were still the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
“The fact that she’s planning to go to India is such a huge milestone, not only for her, but for the couple together,” Myers said. He added, “This is a chance of renewal for both of them, and when they are together on the international stage, there is no doubt they have a far bigger impact.”
Kensington Palace hasn’t officially confirmed Kate’s attendance at the Earthshot Prize Awards in November, but her presence is no doubt always welcome. Bond previously told The Mirror that the princess “has a star quality that no other royal can bring to an occasion. And that’s a valuable asset for the monarchy.”
Kate undertook another major milestone in May when she visited Italy—her first official solo international visit since 2022. A source told Vanity Fair that the trip served as a “road test” for a possible second tour with William later in 2026. According to The Times, an “enthused” Kate had two poignant words on the plane ride home from Italy to the U.K.: “Where next?”
