This view stems from Andrew’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, a settled sexual assault lawsuit, and recent allegations involving a Chinese spy, which have significantly damaged his reputation. Royal expert Brontë Coy, quoted in The Sun, stated that neither King Charles nor senior royals, including William and Kate, support Andrew resuming public duties, with the consensus being that his retirement from such roles is permanent. Despite this, Andrew is still permitted to attend private family events, such as church services, though his presence at high-profile gatherings like Easter 2025 was notable, as William and Kate chose to spend the holiday with their children and Kate’s parents in Norfolk instead.
