Jeremy Clarkson condemned over Meghan column in the Sun.

 


Outcry after presenter writes he is ‘dreaming of the day when she is made to parade bare through the streets’.
A Jeremy Clarkson column in the Sun about the Duchess of Sussex has provoked outcry online, with social media customers labelling it “vile”, “horrific” and “abusive”.
In an article for the paper posted on Friday, Clarkson wrote that he loathed Meghan “on a cellular level”. He said he was once “dreaming of the day when she is made to parade bare thru the streets of each city in Britain whilst the crowds chant, ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her”.
He added: “Everyone who’s my age thinks the same way.”
The feedback have drawn tremendous condemnation. The comedian John Bishop tweeted that the remarks have been a “blatant appeal to incite humiliation and violence on a woman”.
The presenter Carol Vorderman tweeted: “NO, Jeremy Clarkson. Not on any level, in any circumstance, is it OK to write this stuff about any lady and genuinely NO to ‘everyone who’s my age thinks the same’.”



The creator Philip Pullman wrote: “That Jeremy Clarkson can write things like that, and publish them unashamed, tells us all we want to understand about the way Rupert Murdoch has poisoned and rotted our public life.”
Clarkson’s daughter Emily, who hosts the Should I Delete That? podcast, used to be praised through many on social media for an Instagram publish that said: “I choose to make it very clear that I stand towards everything my dad said about Meghan Markle and I stay standing in assist of these who are centered with online hatred.”
The comic Dom Joly stated he was once “literally gobsmacked” at Clarkson’s “utterly vile and disgusting comments”. He added: “What is it about these kind of guys that triggers them so?”
His fellow comedian Jason Manford tweeted a image of an excerpt from the article with the caption: “If you can shield Clarkson in this, then please don’t reply to me, simply unfollow and block and pass on. We are never going to agree.”



Meanwhile, the British social activist and chief govt of the Five Foundation, Nimco Ali, wrote: “A young Black lady opens up about her struggle with suicidal ideas as a result of the abuse she acquired from the media, and this is how some guys in the media react. This is genuinely horrific.”
The 5 Live presenter Rachel Burden tweeted: “So … there’s Jeremy Clarkson writing what he did. And then the editor determining to put up it.”
The Radio DJ and TV host Edith Bowman wrote on Twitter: “How is any person capable to print such abusive comments in an genuine newspaper?”
Harry and Meghan recently opened up about life as senior royals in the UK and their selection to step down from their obligations in a six-part Netflix docuseries. The last instalments of the show were released on Thursday.
