Australian journalist Allison Langdon has hit back at Meghan Markle after she was featured in the trendy episode of the Archetypes podcast.
In the episode launched on Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex declared she was annoyed at being instructed a "million times over" she was once lucky Prince Harry had "chosen her" to be his spouse when they grew to become engaged in 2017.
Meghan made her point the usage of a cut up audio clip of Langdon speaking about the couple's wedding ceremony in a 2018 episode of 60 Minutes Australia.
Langdon heard the snippet she was once featured in for the first time live on Today on Wednesday, where she described experiencing "steam out my ears".
“All I comprehend is that I had a lot of mates who liked Meghan for a lengthy time and none of them do anymore," Langdon said.
"What phase of that was saying, Harry (chose you)... oh my gosh."
The voice over featured the Nine journalist saying, “the completely happy couple has enchanted the world with their real-life fairy-tale".
Today co-host Karl Stefanovic additionally weighed in, announcing the episode “makes my head explode”.
“Whatever aspect of the fence Ally is on in this story, she receives smashed by means of Meghan,” Stefanovic pointed out.
Meghan's episode, titled The Stigma of the Singleton with Mindy Kaling, explored the "stereotypes" around single woman.
“When I started out courting my husband, and we grew to be engaged, everyone was simply like, 'Oh my god, you’re so lucky, he selected you',” Meghan stated all through the episode, before the audio of Langdon was played.
“And at a sure point, after you hear it a million instances over, you’re like, ‘well I selected him too!'"
Meghan added that notwithstanding the "stereotype", Harry has continually presented her support.
“But, thankfully, I have a companion who was countering that narrative for me and going, ‘They’ve obtained it all wrong. I’m the lucky one because you chose me,’" she said.
“But it is gendered and it’s archetyped and stereotyped that you’re so lucky, and it just feeds into this idea that you’re ready for any individual to inform you that you’re accurate enough, as hostile to understanding that you’re properly adequate on your own.”
In August, Stefanovic mocked the Duchess of Sussex’s reaction to a blaze in Archie’s nursery, telling co-host Langdon to "grow a set" after she expressed sympathy for the former actress.
In the first episode, Meghan recounted the day a fire broke out in her then four-month-old son’s room while on a royal tour of South Africa in September 2019.
Stefanovic snickered at Meghan's reaction.
"So, simply to get this right, the baby's, what, now not even there?" he laughed.
"No... the nanny had taken the child from the room before the fireplace ignited," Langdon replied.
"But... so then, the baby's not there when the fireplace catches, right? And due to the fact the toddler wasn't there, she was once going to have difficulties going to a function? Oh, my God," Stefanovic said, rolling his eyes.
