Kate Middleton and Prince William went from college sweethearts to a lasting royal romance.

The Prince and Princess of Wales wed on April 29, 2011, 10 years after they met as students at St. Andrews University. They held a lavish wedding at Westminster Abbey in London, attended by A-listers like Elton John and his husband David Furnish, as well as David and Victoria Beckham.

Together, the couple share three children: George, born in 2013, Charlotte, born in 2015 and Louis, born in 2017.

“They look after each other but in different ways,” a friend of the couple told PEOPLE in a 2019 cover story. “Some people might say it’s an old-fashioned marriage, but it seems to work.”

In the early years of their relationship, Kate came out to see William play a football game at Eton College and greeted him affectionately.

02. A Current Engagement.

A newly engaged Kate and William beamed as they linked arms at St. James Palace.

03. Hands to Themselves.

A day after their 2011 wedding, Kate and William held hands as they headed to their helicopter to fly off for their honeymoon.

04. Not Their First Rodeo.

Donning matching cowboy hats, the couple held hands while watching the start of the 2011 Calgary Stampede Parade.

05. Golden Moment.

Kate and William celebrated the United Kingdom’s gold medal victory in sprint track cycling with an embrace in the stands.

06. First Mates.

On their North America tour in 2011, the couple engaged in some friendly competition — and a particularly playful public display of affection following a boat race.

The duo were attached at the hip at a rugby game during their three-week tour of Australia and New Zealand.

A dressed-up Kate and William stayed close at the Irish Guards St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

During the Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup in 2022, William walked off with his hand around his wife’s waist.

For the second consecutive year, Kate supported William at Out-Sourcing Inc. Royal Charity Polo Cup, where he embraced her on the field.

While on the cliff walk at Howth in Dublin in 2020, the couple was caught in a cuddle.

The two had an intimate chat – and a romantic moment — as they walked the green carpet at the Earthshot Awards in Boston in 2022.

At the 2024 Trooping the Colour flypast, William and Kate looked into each other’s eyes as they stood on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

For Valentine’s Day 2025, the royal couple celebrated with an Instagram shot depicting William planting a smooch on his wife’s cheek — and her getting the giggles about it.

15. Hand in Hand.

A few weeks later, a videographer caught William and Kate walking hand-in-hand through a train station.

16. Keeping Tradition.

Prince William welcomed his wife with a kiss on the cheek as she attended the Royal Charity Polo Cup on July 10, 2026 to present the prizes following the match.

17. Good Times.

The pair were picture-perfect as they kept close while sharing a laugh on the field.

18. Locked In.

The couple then held hands as they walked off the field together.
