Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales Reveals Why She Moved Her Family Out of London.
Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, recently shared her reasoning behind moving her family from London to Windsor in 2022. During a conversation with soldiers from the Irish Guards at a St. Patrick’s Day parade on March 17, 2025, she explained that the decision was driven by a desire for “more green space.” She noted, “We were in London but moved there for more green space,” adding that Windsor is “close enough to London, not too far away.” This move saw Kate, Prince William, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—relocate from Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace to Adelaide Cottage, a historic home within Windsor Great Park, about an hour west of London. The shift reflects their preference for a quieter, more nature-oriented environment for their family while still maintaining proximity to the capital.
