Months before they cease royal life, Harry and Meghan asked the Queen for one huge favour – and had been left disenchanted when she became them down.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle had requested a “suite of apartments at Windsor Castle” but had been became down through the Queen, according to a new book.

In an extract of the The New Royals with the aid of Katie Nicholls, posted in the UK Mail on Sunday, the couple reportedly desired to stay within the then-monarch’s Berkshire home however had been given Frogmore Cottage on the grounds instead.

And according to Nicholls, it left the Duke and Duchess of Sussex disappointed.

“When Harry and Meghan introduced their wish to go out of Kensington Palace, the Queen presented them Frogmore Cottage in Windsor Great Park as their new home,” she wrote.

“This used to be not the suite of residences at Windsor Castle they had hoped for. It was once a generous gesture nonetheless, recalled Lady Elizabeth Anson, who died in 2020.”

Nicholls defined that Lady Anson had described the Queen’s provide as “a massive deal”, including that “the Queen’s entrance into the gardens is right next to their cottage”, so it was “essentially her backyard, her solitude, and her privacy”.

Lady Anson reportedly then told Nicholls that “we all idea it was once very huge of her”, and that the Queen had stated “I hope they’ll appreciate it”.

Harry and Meghan moved out of Kensington Palace and into Frogmore Cottage in early 2019, after spending round $4.6 million on renovations.

The cash came from the Sovereign Grant, which is funded via British taxpayers, and offers the Royal Family with cash to cover reputable royal business and duties.

However, less than a year later, Harry and Meghan introduced their intention to step again as frontline royals in favour of dwelling a greater “private” life and moved to Montecito in California.

It was revealed in late 2020 that after touchdown a number of moneymaking industrial deals, they had managed to pay returned the price of the refurbishments.
