Kate Middleton's cheeky university nickname that led to her catching William's eye.

 


Kate Middleton met future husband Prince William whilst they have been college students at St Andrews University in Scotland - and it came after some of Kate's fellow college students gave her an pretty complimentary nickname.

Kate aced her A-level tests while at Marlborough College and earned a location at the University of St Andrews in Scotland to find out about the history of art. It proved to be a life-changing selection as it used to be there she met Prince William and their early romance blossomed. And it appears she might also have caught the eye of the future king thanks to a cheeky nickname given to her by using her fellow students.
That's because when she joined the university, she took section in Freshers' Week - a tradition of welcoming new students with a week of nights out and partying.



In her book Kate: The Future Queen, author Katie Nicholl writes that Kate had a "hectic week of partying, assembly her 'university parents - older students who were in cost of looking after freshers - discovering her way around city and settling into her dwelling hall".
She explains: "Kate quickly found her way round and used to be regularly viewed enjoyable in the common room, curled up in an armchair, a cup of tea in hand, either reading newspaper articles her father rather touchingly mailed to her or getting to understand her fellow corridor mates."
William arrived at St Andrews the following week - and it did not take him long to word his future wife, in all likelihood due to the fact of the nickname she was once given by her peers.



According to Katie, she had been dubbed 'Beautiful Kate' through the end of Freshers' Week.
She writes: "She used to be in the beginning greater reserved than many of the different younger women, but her natural splendor was apparent.
"Tanned from a recent holiday in Barbados with her parents, fit from ordinary early morning run or swim, and dressed in her relaxed Hennes jeans, fitted sweater and signature cowboy boots, she radiated an outer freshness and an internal confidence."
When the pair got engaged in 2010, almost 10 years after their first assembly - Kate published she was less than cool.



In an interview to mark their engagement, the couple was once requested about the second they met at university.
Kate was in a position to recall the moment straight away, but William struggled to consider and said he'd have to "wrack his brains".
And Kate added: "I definitely went vivid pink when I met you and scuttled off feeling very shy about meeting you.
"William wasn't there for pretty a bit of the time initially, he wasn't there from Fresher's Week, so it did take a bit of time for us to get to comprehend each other.
