Meghan and Harry’s Oprah interview is making news once again.

 


The iconic black Giorgio Armani costume the Duchess of Sussex wore for her March 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey has been introduced as the Fashion Museum Bath’s Dress of the Year.
The $4,700 triple silk georgette costume with a lotus flower motif will go on display at the English museum as phase of its headline exhibition, “A History of Fashion in 100 Objects.”
While it’s now not the proper gown Meghan wore, the dressmaker donated a model of the seem to be for the display, per the museum.
Fashion Museum Bath shared the information on Instagram Tuesday, adding that royals frequently send a message with their clothing, and the lotus flower has a mainly significant one.



The duchess, who struggled with her intellectual fitness at some stage in her time as a royal, is said to have chosen the flower-printed gown for its “symbolic association with rebirth, self-regeneration and non secular enlightenment, and its ability to flourish notwithstanding seemingly challenging conditions.”
Each year, the museum asks leaders in the fashion world to pick a Dress of the Year that “encapsulates the prevailing mood of fashion, represents the previous year, and captures the imagination,” per the museum’s press release.
Markle’s dress was chosen by way of Dazed magazine’s editor-in-chief, Ibrahim Kamara, and its art director, Gareth Wrighton. In a statement, the pair shared how the dress, “worn to showcase a divine pregnancy,” is now “firmly ingrained in our pop subculture psyche.”
“In today’s hyper-stylised pop culture, the Dress of the Year now has the possible to also be ‘meme of the year’ and we both latched upon Meghan and Harry’s now-iconic interview with Oprah as the definitive anti-establishment moment that will perpetually undergo in the British collective consciousness,” they said.



Meghan’s gown went on display the day prior to this at the museum, which is located in Bath’s historical Assembly Rooms constructing.
